LFCA MISSIONS NOTES

5-8-08 

     Each May, our school helps the Meadowview Health and Rehab Center by providing baked goods for a festival.  The sixth grade class will be going to the facility on Thursday, May 15, and they need your help with contributing baked goods along with them.  These items need to be store bought and in a non returnable pan.  Please bring these items to school by May 15. 

     In missions classes, we will be learning about the ministries of Living Hope Community Centre in South Africa.  Your child will also have the opportunity to do mission action.  At various times throughout the year, we will be collecting items and doing projects to minister to people in our own area.  Ways your mission fee has helped so far include:  mission class projects; gifts and projects for residents at Meadowview Health & Rehab Center, Green Meadows Nursing Home, and Colonial House Nursing Home; meal items for the fire and police departments; gifts and projects for children at the Wayside Child Development Center; meal items for a Bible study group at U of L; Operation Christmas Child, and other projects as needed.     

 Throughout the school year, we also collect pull tabs for the Ronald McDonald House.  Our kindergarten class turned in quite a few pull tabs on their recent mission trip.  We also collect box tops for education, Campbell’s soup labels, and Tyson labels. 

Thanks to Mrs. Collett and the 5^th grade class for raising $200 for Hospice! 

Our school raised $1656 for the Crusade for Children penny contest.  In the battle between UK and U of L, there was $975.77 raised for UK and $680.23 raised for U of L.  Thanks for bringing in those pennies!

Upcoming Mission Events:

Fri. May 9    LFCA attends the Zoneton Fire Dept. Crusade Carnival. Kindergarten-3^rd grade attends from 1:00-2:00, and 4^th-8^th grades attend from 2:00-3:00.  Admission is $5- please return permission slip as well.  The winning class (3a) will get to attend for free!

Thurs. May 15   6^th grade mission trip to Meadowview -donating store bought baked goods

Tues. May 20    Zoneton Fire Dept. will be cooking out and offering our lunch.  The cost is $5 and will include hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, dessert, and drink.  All proceeds will benefit the Crusade for Children.  The classes will attend lunch at their regular time (after the Spring Program which is at 9:00 in the sanctuary).  Families are invited to attend.  All reservations and money is due by Fri. May 16 so preparations can be made.
