Little Flock Christian Academy Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF) Minutes

06/30/08

This meeting began at 7:06 p.m. with prayer led by Brian trees.  This meeting was held for the sole purpose of forming a PTF and nominating Interim officers for Little Flock Christian Academy PTF. In attendance were 39 individuals.

Brian Trees, the principal here at LFCA spoke to the group and ask them to consider the school and the PTF as a ministry.  He quoted Romans 12:2 and asked that it be applied in the teaching of our children.  He stated that there are three ways to help the school:

  1. Pray
  2. Serving i.e. as an officer or chairperson
  3. and as an ambassador, volunteering to spread the word about the school, its mission, and goals.

At 7:09 p.m. Gina Kays introduced herself as the facilitator of the meeting.  She expressed that it will take the strength of everyone pulling together to help the school  meet and exceed its goals.  She explained the responsibilities of each individual to the school as follows:

The intent of this meeting is for a general consensus of questions and to lay groundwork for the organization.

The purpose of the PTF is to provide an opportunity for the parents and the teachers to work together in fundraising for LFCA.

OFFICERS/MEMBERSHIP: It was decided that to be an officer, an individual needs to be a paid member of the PTF.  Each paid member will be allowed one vote.  A membership fee of $5.00 per member will be charged.    A possible membership contest between classes was also discussed with specific regard to guidelines of the contest.  Each paid membership will only count one (1) time. Parents that have more than one child enrolled will have to decide which child their paid membership will count for.  It was suggested that single parent families also solicit grandparents, aunts and uncles, etc for additional memberships. A membership card enrollment was passed around to the group for early membership sign-up.  These members will be applied to their child’s classroom.

Items that were discussed:

Teachers:  Parents of each grade taking turns providing an evening luncheon for teachers during monthly staff meetings.

Fundraisers: Fall and Spring Festivals; Market Day; Book Fair; Recycling project; Kroger Cards; golf scramble (Angie Botwell and her husband); Box tops; Campbell’s soup labels; Tyson labels.

Board Box: This box will be posted August 18 for comments and tuition.  Gina urged parents to keep communication channels open.  Complaints are made through a chain beginning with the teacher, next the principal, and finally the School Board.

Webpage: Update the calendar, and changes such as adding registration and lunch ticket purchase.

Items needed by the school:

The group was then asked if they would like to volunteer to be interim officers. No one spoke up immediately and Gina recommended people that had already stepped up to assist her in forming the PTF.  The following interim officers were elected:

President: Stefanie Walls

Vice President: Steve Marks

Secretary: Misti Allen

Treasurer/Membership: Angela Stayton

Volunteer Coordinator: Sheila Thompson

Communications Coordinator: Kim Gathof

Fundraiser Coordinator:  Anne Gipson

Extended Chairpersons:

Principal: Brain Trees

Board Liaison: Gina Kays

Gina asked for volunteers to work a PTF membership table on August 12th.

The group had prayer and adjourned at 8:40p.m.

Respectfully submitted – Lisa Martin
